It may have taken about 10 years but residents of Werris Creek have reason to cheer as a plaque was laid today to mark a major project that will drought-proof the town.

IT’S been years in the making, with three levels of government needed to get it across the line, but work on the Quipolly Water Project is finally underway.

This morning marked the laying of the foundation stone at Quipolly Dam for the $28.3 million project to secure and improve water quality for Werris Creek. 
The significant project is the product of local, state and federal investment.
